My new quilt and pattern are all finished!

A Cucumber, Fabric, and a Fort!

Image
It was a busy weekend! We harvested the first cucumber from our garden! On a road trip with our friends to Fort Delaware, we stopped at Quilter's Corner in Chadds Ford, Pa and I got a bee fabric! We spent a very HOT afternoon exploring Fort Delaware!  This is Karl on the Delafort ferry to the fort. Thomas had fun, he actually got to fire a cannon while we were at the Fort! The sky was beautiful!

My friend found me this really cool bee print from Tina Givens.  It is from her Chloe's Imagination line.

New Blooms In Garden

My Zulu Prince African Daisy bloomed, finally.  These were planted from old seed and I was not sure if the would grow or not.  I love it! Thumbelina Zinnia on the deck:

Photo Journal

Michael, Karl, Thomas and I went to the Reading Museum while Andrew was working this past weekend.  There was a wonderful Lenape Indian exhibit.  I had hoped to see Perkasie mentioned since I grew up there and played at Lake Lenape, but I did not see it noted anywhere.  I found this mask, which I told Michael looks like him when he wakes up in the morning! Outside the museum, there was a really cool tree! On Monday, an old friend came to visit.  Her daughter, Rosemary, drew me a lovely picture of a giraffe!  Thanks, Rosemary! Today, I took some shots in the garden: Busy Bee! I also found some great glasses at the dollar store! On Sunday, Mike also got some nice pics of one of the dragonflies in our "park".  We had not seen this yellow on before.  We usually see a blue on with striped wings.

Beans, Glories, and Hummers

Image
We picked our first crop of beans, the boys ate almost the whole harvest raw.  There were a few left to take pictures of. The hummingbird perched for a few minutes to let us get a snapshot.  Click the photos to make them larger.

In the Garden Today

My Morning Glory is finally blooming!! My red flax has started blooming.  It seems like the seed took forever to grow! And my african daisies grew.  Michael collected these seeds last year and I planted them this year!

Other Garden Shots and the Monster Marigold

Image
Seriously, are Marigolds supposed to get this big????? I love this black-eyed susan. I have to figure out what type it is.  My ones in the front have pointed petal ends.  This is the only one I have that has rounded petals and I love it.

Kutztown students take historic first in national history competition By Michelle Park Reading Eagle Two Kutztown Middle School students made history for their district in the National History Day contest in June. Jayna A. Snyder and Carolyn M. Wasser won the junior group exhibit competition with their project, "Kill the Indian, Save the Man: Education or Cultural Extermination?" The 14-year-olds each garnered $500 prizes. The achievement was Kutztown Middle School's best-ever showing in the competition, said Betty L. Imboden, a gifted-support teacher who has advised National History Day competitors for a decade. The district has competed about that long. "This is the first time ... that we walked across the stage for anything in the top three, let alone first," Imboden said. The highest the middle school previously placed was fourth. Adding to the district's success, two Kutztown High School projects finished in the top three in their categories. Elsa Voyta...
