Mike's funny photo and others from Hawk Mountain

Image
Michael, Thomas, and a friend went to Hawk Mountain over Labor Day. He took this silly shot at the Pinnacle. What a jokester! Yikes! Snakes! It's good I stayed home!

Lots of work deserves dessert!

Please notice, Michael has three plates in front of him. That means it must have been really good! Chocolate Caramel Hazelnut Pie 7.5 ounces wegmans pie crust, 1 pie crust from 2 crust package ----FILLING---- 1 ½ cup sugar ½ cup water ½ cup unsalted butter, cut into pieces 5 ounces evaporated milk 2 ounces unsweetened chocolate, chopped 2 cup hazelnuts or filberts, skinned and coarsely chopped ----OPTIONAL DECORATION---- 8 whole hazelnuts, skinned 24 sliced almonds Filling preparation: First, blind bake the pie crust as directed on package. Travel time...

Mike left for California this morning. Hopefully his flights all go well!

Last night in Atlantic City

Image
The crew went on a jaunt to Atlantic City last night. Rick, Jean, and I had eaten at the White House last year. Everyone recommended the place, but we had the hardest time finding it for the first time! We are glad we did. People stand in line for hours if they hit it during the busy time. They make great subs and steak sandwiches. There are pictures of celebrities all over the walls. We had George Clooney watching us last night! Michael had never been there, so we figured it was time. Both him and Rick ate the LARGE subs. They are nearly 2 feet long, the waitress was astonished they ate the whole thing!!

First Day of Spring - 39 degrees at dinner time!

Image
Brr... Michael and Thomas braved the cold to make a "Celebrate Spring Dinner" !! We had kielbasa over the chiminea, baked potatoes, and beer. Thomas roasted some marshmallows! Momma made a lemon meringue pie for dessert!

More cookies and a review of events!

I just got done making some apricot sandwich cookies, I have not made this in a while, but AJ requested them.  I have been really busy in the past two weeks and have not got to posting that much.  I still have to upload the pictures from Andrew's christmas concert and our christmas tree expedition.  See more photos of our week below! Michael had a birthday on December 11! Karl had his Christmas concert this past Thursday!
