From the Mouths of Babes!

Image
Thomas and I baked some potatoes for lunch today.  He finished most of his potato, but left the skin on his plate.  Since I love potato skins, I asked Thomas if he minded if I ate it.  He said "Sure."  As I was chomping down on the skin, Thomas said " Don't you find it a little odd that you are eating the skin of my potato that used to be in the dirt but you won't eat mushrooms that grow above the dirt?" He is such a crackup!

Sandwich Friday!

Image
We celebrated our first early dismissal day from school today with a sandwich party! Who knew Thomas could open his jaw so WIDE??

At Your Service!

Thomas is so proud! He joined the Safety Patrol at school today!

BUSY!!!

Image
It has been a busy week! Last weekend we painted and rearranged our bedroom and got some new furniture for it! This week I am working at the Hershey Quilt show! While I was at the show yesterday Karl made a triple layer cake!! This is the first time he has tried a triple layer cake and the first time he has iced and decorated a cake on his own! We think it came out great!! He wanted to make a red velvet cake, but we did not have enough red dye. He used green dye to see if the cake would come out green, it did not, it came out brown! The blue dye turned the cream cheese frosting a very pretty robin's egg color. It tasted great! Thomas was out taking pictures in the garden, can you spot the bee in flight in the snapdragon shot?

A picking we will go..

Image
Andrew, Thomas and I went blueberry picking this morning. Karl felt a bit under the weather, so he stayed home. Thomas spotted a baby bird in one of the bushes!

Flashback!

Image
People have always said Thomas and Karl were my "twins." I came across their second grade photos and posted them below. They really did look alike at that stage of their lives! Thomas in kindergarten: Karl in second grade: Thomas in second grade:

Random Things....

Image
I took some time to sew some pillows this morning and completed two hexagon pieces last week. I also took a picture of Thomas with his SCARY mask!

The Mighty Archer

Crafty Thomas made himself a bow and arrow over the weekend!

Boy have times changed...

Image
Yesterday was Moms & Muffins day at the elementary school. We mothers go into school and have a muffin with the children. (Don't worry, there is also Dads & Donuts Day each year). During the morning, we also take a tour of the school. Thomas showed me the computer lab - boy have times changed! - we were just starting to get computers in school when I was in high school. Our computers were very slow and very slow. We all had to write a program about what we did for our morning routine as an example of how computers think. And, of course, we did "Hello, World!.

Spring Concert!

Image
The Spring Concert was great! I cried, I was so proud of my boys! This is Andrew and the Jazz Ensemble singing "Under the Sea": Andrew and Hannah singing their solos during "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me": The last song was "Why We Sing" - Andrew and Thomas both sang in this song - Can you spot them?

Congratulations Thomas!

Thomas won 2nd place in the 100 yard dash at field day today!

10 at Last!

Today is Tommy's actually birthday. He asked me to get him donuts to make the number 10 to celebrate! Happy Birthday Thomas!

Thomas Turns Ten!

Image
We had to have Thomas' cake a bit early since Andrew was leaving town today and Daddy is flying back to California this week! This year Thomas asked for a Vanilla Sheet Cake.

Rabbit Hunting!

Image
New Year, New Rabbit. So it begins ... Thomas is on patrol!

Thomas' Creation

Image
Thomas has always loved patterns - when he was little he would make pictures out of tanagram blocks. This is what he created today!

First Day of Spring - 39 degrees at dinner time!

Image
Brr... Michael and Thomas braved the cold to make a "Celebrate Spring Dinner" !! We had kielbasa over the chiminea, baked potatoes, and beer. Thomas roasted some marshmallows! Momma made a lemon meringue pie for dessert!

Sunglasses.....

Image
Thomas and I were fooling around trying on sunglasses at CVS yesterday! The only thing I don't like about sunglasses is the more feminine ones usually have some type of tacky *bling* on the arms. I don't put bling on my quilts, so I don't want bling on my glasses!

Thomas' Thumb

Well, we saw the hand doctor today and he confirmed Thomas broke his growth plate and tore ligaments in his hand. He'll be in the splint for another three weeks until the doctor sees him again! [Posted with iBlogger from my iPhone]

Thomas versus a Basketball

Image
The ball won! Thomas hurt himself during gym class while blocking a basketball rebound. His thumb was getting bigger and bigger so we took a run to the hospital tonight! The doctor thinks he fractured the growth plate in his thumb.
