Hugh Moore Park, Lehigh Canal, and Emrick Technology Center

Image
We took a road trip on Father's Day to Hugh Moore State Park. While we were there, we rode the mule barge up the Lehigh River. We were pulled by two mules, Hank and George. It was very peaceful and serene. We also visited the Emrick Technology Center. The center featured various displays of machinery, photos, and other items from Bethlehem Steel and from Dixie. Here are some of the pictures I took during our walk along the towpath! There is a slideshow of the trip below. If you click the little person icon on the slideshow to bring up the title of the show, and the click on the title, it will take you to my picasa album of the trip; from there you can hit slideshow on the top left and see the show in a much larger size!

New fabrics, a pattern, and a book!

A friend and I ran to the local quilt shop and I picked up these things!

We did a little fabric shopping...

On the way to retreat we stopped at Martin's in Morgantown and we also went on a trip to Zook's. I will show the fabrics I picked up over the next couple of days: these are two neat black and white prints I found! Safari III by Blank Flower Power by Windham

Found One Last Quilt Shop

This shop was in Bellefonte. Very nice owner! The shop is in the third bay of her garage, hence the name Third Bay Quilt shop! -- Honeybee Quilter on the road

Another Shop

Went to Anna's and then found Mary Lee's. -- Honeybee Quilter on the road

On the Road again

Image
Karl and I are in State College for the GeoBee. We saw lots of things on the way here. There was even a dead wolf on the road - eww. We went through lots of mountains and by Bald Eagle State Park. And we went by Electric Avenue ... Anyone else remember that song from the 80's? -- Honeybee Quilter posting from my iPhone.

Travel time...

Mike left for California this morning. Hopefully his flights all go well!

2 New Quilt Shops & finds

Image
We went to a quilt shop in Allentown, NJ. This old mill was near a shop called the Quilter's Cottage. It was a nice little shop and a neat town that I would not mind exploring more! I got two fat quarters while I was there: We then went on to Howell, NJ and visited Mouse Creek Quilts. Really nice shop! Definitely one to go back to! I got 1/2 yard of fabric while I was there and one pattern:

More weekend stuff ....

We saw the crew teams out on the river on our way to the restaurant Philly Clothespin - which reminded me we had laundry to do at home!

Dinner was Good!

Image
Dinner was good at The Chart House, but we can't afford to do that trip often! Mike and I split an appetizer of Coconut Crunchy Shrimp. We both had the salad bar. My main course was Cashew Crusted Sole with roasted vegetables. Michael had the Flounder special with artichokes and veggies. All with a nice bottle of wine. For dessert, we finally had the famous Hot Chocolate Lava Cake. It was very good, but very rich!

NYC - Urban Inspirations

Who cares that we got home at 1:00 am from Atlantic City? Why not go to a quilt show the next morning! This was the Urban Inspirations show at the Fashion Institute of Techonology. Jean and I caught a lecture about Dear Jane quilts by Brenda Papadakis. It was a pretty cool show. We were surprised how many traditional quilts were in the show and it was neat to see Fashion Ave. I was totally amazed by the elevated parking garages! We also had lunch at Penn Station and saw the Empire State building not too far away!

Last night in Atlantic City

Image
The crew went on a jaunt to Atlantic City last night. Rick, Jean, and I had eaten at the White House last year. Everyone recommended the place, but we had the hardest time finding it for the first time! We are glad we did. People stand in line for hours if they hit it during the busy time. They make great subs and steak sandwiches. There are pictures of celebrities all over the walls. We had George Clooney watching us last night! Michael had never been there, so we figured it was time. Both him and Rick ate the LARGE subs. They are nearly 2 feet long, the waitress was astonished they ate the whole thing!!

Roadtrip!

Image
It was a nice day yesterday, so we took a roadtrip upstate. We went to Montoursville, then south to Lewisburg and down further to Selinsgrove and Millersburg before heading home. I love seeing the different college towns - maybe to compare it to ours? We stopped at several quilt shops and I got a couple of fabrics and the patterns below. Our Gathering Place in Montoursville was great! She has lots of civil war fabrics. There is also a quilt exhibit called the Gathering Janes going on in Williamsport, but we did not have time to stop. I saw The Beckoning Cat in Lewisburg. Lewisburg has Bucknell University and several neat shops. We had lunch and visited a book shop and met the author of the 100 funniest words in the english language. It's a very interesting book! Then we headed to Selinsgrove (home of Susquehanna U) and I visited The Sewing Shanty. I picked up some cute chocolate fabric there. We then drove down by the river to Millersburg and discovered a ferry there. It is the las...

Somerset Quilt Show & Soho Visit

The Show

The quilt show was okay, lots of art quilts. The bad thing was the facility was kind of dark inside. I will post some pictures of the quilts tomorrow. After the show, we headed to New York. We visited Purl Patchwork in Soho and I got some neat fabrics. I had never been to Soho - it was cool. I even got to try some real New York Pizza! I'll try to post pictures tomorrow after I drop my quilt off with my quilting fairy! [Posted with iBlogger from my iPhone]

It's Curtains for Me!
